Varoujan Froundjian

Born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1952 from Armenian ancestry. Varoujan Froundjian moved to this country in 1979 and is a citizen of the USA. He is an abstract and experimental filmmaker. Experimental and Non-Narrative genre of filmmaking provides a vast spectrum of creative tools to express social, emotional, psychological and perhaps philosophical viewpoints of the artist without presenting any particular story or a theme. He has been influenced by several artists, such as; Jackson Pollock, Andy WarhoI and digital artists and filmmakers like Bunūel, Stan Brakhage, Norman McLaren. Many of his films have won awards from international film festivals and cultural institutions. Currently he lives in Canaan, Conn., and spends his time studying art, creating films and video installations, and providing audio visual presentations on various subjects such as the history of experimental cinema and Alice in Wonderland.
