To the editor:
I was very angry when I read that a group of protesters decided to protest in front of a Jewish owned business and accuse them of committing genocide in Gaza. Jewish Americans are not responsible for the actions of the Israeli government. The people of Gaza have been under the control of Hamas for a number of years. Hamas stated they were not responsible for the safety of the people in Gaza. Hamas kept the hostages in homes in Gaza and in the tunnels under Gaza. They used them as human shields.
Many Jewish Americans lost family members on October 7. The families of the remaining hostages do not know if their family members are dead or alive. Where is the compassion for them? What is happening to the people in Gaza is tragic. The people of Israel and the Palestinians deserve to have safety and prosperity.
The protests in front of a Jewish owned business were cruel and insensitive. The protests seem one-sided. I would like the protesters to call out Hamas for their war crimes, demand the unconditional release of the remaining hostages, and read what the mission of Hamas is. Your protest only added to the rise of hate crimes based on faith and did not help the people in Gaza.
