“The retreat brings people together, builds community in the forest, gets participants outside and off their screens, and uses nature sustainably to heal and inspire minds and souls,” stated Great Mountain Forest Executive Director Michael Zafros. Retreat registration closes on July 30.
The Great Barrington Farmers Market took over the train station on Saturday mornings for years, but moved to the fairgrounds last year. This year they have an arrangement with Great Barrington’s fairy godmother, Jane Iredale, who is generously leasing them space on her company’s conveniently located property, with a lot of room for parking.
Berkshire Regional Planning Commission’s Berkshire Benchmark’s data shows that of the 400 children under age three in South County, around 10 percent of the population have some sort of developmental issue. Sixteen children under three in Berkshire County have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), “a shockingly high number," according to PDC Executive Director Maureen Atwood.
