“The retreat brings people together, builds community in the forest, gets participants outside and off their screens, and uses nature sustainably to heal and inspire minds and souls,” stated Great Mountain Forest Executive Director Michael Zafros. Retreat registration closes on July 30.
Dave Long of Housatonic, an outspoken critic of last year's Monument Mountain Regional High School renovation plan, and now an advocate for a systemic change to address the district’s financial and infrastructure issues, “implored everyone” to vote for the school budget. “If we start ripping apart the fabric of the schools, I think it could be disastrous,” he advised.
"There’s really no difference in the support for public education between people who happen to live in Great Barrington or happen to live Stockbridge or West Stockbridge. If that’s true, that means that everyone in the district should be willing to bear the same level of taxation."

In his presentation to the Berkshire Hills Regional School Committee, Dave Long of Housatonic proposes the formation of a task force to address educational and infrastructure needs within the school district, including the renovation of Monument Mountain Regional High School.
In his letter to the editor, Housatonic resident Dave Long writes: "It is absolutely imperative that the School Committee demonstrate tangible progress in securing the health and well being of the district before town meeting season. While the process continues to open up, the Committee needs to formally establish the path to reform."
