“The retreat brings people together, builds community in the forest, gets participants outside and off their screens, and uses nature sustainably to heal and inspire minds and souls,” stated Great Mountain Forest Executive Director Michael Zafros. Retreat registration closes on July 30.
The 5-year-old battle with Claudia Shapiro and Danny Bell has not been cheap. Through the end of July, town officials say they estimated that the town will have spent somewhere between $53,000 and $54,000 defending itself from their claims.

The land in question falls under Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) regulations that prohibit working land within 100-feet of a reservoir and wetlands, and the town’s rules that put a 500 foot buffer between a reservoir and any permitted activity.
