“The retreat brings people together, builds community in the forest, gets participants outside and off their screens, and uses nature sustainably to heal and inspire minds and souls,” stated Great Mountain Forest Executive Director Michael Zafros. Retreat registration closes on July 30.
In the meantime, the state has installed mobile digital speed trailers on U.S. Route 7 at both the north and south approaches to the Berkshire Hills school campuses to slow traffic down.

Lyme disease cases continue to be high in southern Berkshire County, at a case rate of over 500 cases per 100,000 population. Berkshire County also has the second-highest rate in Massachusetts for the tick-borne coinfection anaplasmosis.

When work will be begin on repairing the Bridge Street span, and what restrictions on traffic will be imposed during the repairs has yet to be determined. Bridge Street provides access to the east side of Great Barrington and is a busy bypass during the Main Street Reconstruction Project that is just getting under way.
According to the Southern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce’s (SBCC) construction update, there might be “traffic shifts” depending on the scope of the work.
