“The retreat brings people together, builds community in the forest, gets participants outside and off their screens, and uses nature sustainably to heal and inspire minds and souls,” stated Great Mountain Forest Executive Director Michael Zafros. Retreat registration closes on July 30.
Kids 4 Harmony, a program of 18 Degrees, is inspired by Venezuela’s El Sistema, an intensive, values driven, ensemble-based approach to teaching classical music to effect social change.
Special guests the Urban Choral Arts Society from Baltimore, Maryland, will make a return appearance at the Cantilena Chamber Choir concert, and Martin Luther King Jr. will be remembered in poems and speeches.
The exhibit includes works of more than 30 local artists who work in diverse media including oil and watercolor painting, pastels, colored pencil, photography, sculpture and pottery.
Railroad Street Youth Project's culinary apprenticeship program links youth with professional chefs who will teach them the skills they need for employment in the world of culinary arts.
