Notes from afar

Reflections from Belle Fox-Martin, including the poem “Bath Time.”
Political commentary

Q.:  How do you win a shell game?

A.:  Don’t play

Quote for the day…

“The intellectual capacity of the president is protozoan.”

Paul Flynn, opposition Labor leader, UK (NYT)

Bath Time

It’s time to wash the monkeys.

Second Saturday of the month.

I know it should be more often

but I just can’t and neither can they.

Two, there are two of them

which is one more than

anyone needs. No, they don’t

keep each other company.

Everyone says that but it’s not true.

Gluskap and Malsum.

No, they came with

other names. Bunny and Hop.

Cute?

Have you ever bathed a monkey?

Well then don’t… You

don’t know. You don’t know the half

of it. You have what? A dog?

If I tell you I’m fluent in

Cantonese will you tell me

you spent a semester in France?

I have to go.

I have to run their bath.

Excuse me.

The maestros of misdirection at Fox have moved on to constructing a new made-up threat to inflame Trump’s minions on the way to the 2026 midterms. The new crock du jour is the nonexistent communist plot to take over America.

EUGENE FIDELL: The ‘Animal Crackers’ solution

Trump is ineligible to serve another term. He has every right (barring impeachment) to stay the course and continue to serve until noon on January 20, 2029. But he would be wise not to. Let me explain why.
