Pittsfield — On Tuesday, Jan. 17, resident David Bednarczyk was found guilty of assault and battery of a household family member and witness intimidation by a jury in Pittsfield District Court.
According to a press release by District Attorney Timothy Shugrue, Bednarczyk has been declared a high-risk domestic violence offender.
The incident took place on Oct. 2, 2021, when Bednarczyk struck his girlfriend twice in the face with an open hand, which led to the charge of assault and battery of a household family member.
Bednarczyk then proceeded to steal the victim’s phone and car which prevented her from getting help and led to the charge of witness intimidation.
After Bednarczyk was found guilty by the jury, Pittsfield District Court Judge Mark J. Pasquariello sentenced Bednarczyk to 18 months in the Berkshire House of Corrections on assault and battery charges with an additional 30-day sentence for witness intimidation.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Aleah Fisher and assisted by Assistant District Attorney Mary O’Connor from the Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office.
